The Most Famous Goal in NHL History

Over 50 years ago something magical happened that sent the Boston Garden and the city of Boston into a frenzy.
Robert Gordon Orr as known as Bobby Orr, is a Bruins legend that will always be cherished. The Bobby Orr Era Bruins at the time were the Big Bad Bruins and throughout the 70s had some of the greatest players such as Gerry Cheevers, Johnny Bucyk, Phil Esposito, Derek Sanderson and of course Orr himself. The final play of the 1970 playoffs was so unimaginable.
It was overtime in game 4 of the 1970 Stanley Cup Final with the Bruins up 3 games to none and some how Superman entered the building to be the hero for the Bruins. Just kidding, it was not actually Superman or a bird, it was Bobby Orr. “Derek (Sanderson) fed it back to me immediately, Glenn Hall’s legs opened up in the crease, and bingo, the puck was in the back of the net” Orr said. After being fed the puck by Derek Sanderson, Orr on the receiving end made the shot and the puck was in the net that made him jump and fly through the air in excitement.
When the goal was scored and Orr went airborne, the Bruins were Stanley Cup champions for the fourth time in franchise history sweeping the St. Louis Blues in four games.
To this day, Bobby Orr is still remembered for what he did that game with a statue outside the TD Garden in Boston commemorating him in the air after scoring the goal.
