As a diehard Red Sox fan going to Fenway has always been a treat. Unfortunately a trip to the ballpark this season did not happen obviously due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.

Fenway Park over the years has been filled with history and great moments fans will always remember. Part of all that is the iconic wall in left field known as the Green Monster. In fact, it has become more than just a wall as it has undergone significant changes to get to the point where fans can take in games from the top. Some fans may have noticed when a hard line drive off a player’s bat hits the wall directly causing a loud bang or pop noise, which could sometimes leave a permanent indentation. You may have heard the noise while at the ballpark or even on television probably more than once.

So I would like to ask the question “how many dents are on the Green Monster?”. You would probably say “well, a lot”. There actually is a number of how many are out there. According to Culture Trip, “there at least 211,000 with some spots being hit up to six times”. I would say that’s a lot of baseballs being hit by many different players going back in time from both the home team and visiting teams not only during games but also during batting practice.

We can all say now that Fenway’s beloved left field wall has taking a beating for quite some time.
